7 July 2008 - McCall, Idaho - Payette Lake

We have been pondering extensively our preparedness.....economic climate uncertainty and mankind's worldly approach to life - keep our eyes on the prophets and heed their counsel!

Purchased a pop - up camper (deja vu of our years in New York with family vacations to Cape Cod) - part of our 72 hour kit.....at least we will be warm if an earthquake hits in the winter and more importantly, we will make memories with children and grandchildren.....and great gas mileage compared to an RV!

Our camping trip to McCall took us 8+ hours from home. Stopped in Boise to gather Bryce and his family and have dry run of setting up camp - good thing....the learning curve sharpens as we age - things seem to take longer! Together though we overcame obstacles.

Jeff and Taylor practicing in the back yard before the maiden voyage......

McCall is beautiful.....quaint town.....camping facilities could not have been better for our extended family. This was Brooklyn's first time not sleeping in a crib.....she did well and we all got plenty of sleep.....

WE:

Celebrated Bryce's birthday - our first born is nearing 30.....time does flee on wings.....

had two incredible hikes

Taylor is a born hiker - he hiked for miles.....
with very few shoulder riders!

Jeff and Bryce golfed and canoed

rode bikes

(Jeff at summit at Payette Lake) - the view was incredible.....

jogging/walking trails were excellent for me (except for encounter with snake)

picniced in the meadow

Taylor throwing out his line....

Many flies were tied and cast,
and all that work to no avail....
at the end of the day.....
just a good fisherman's tale!

We, swam in the lake, caught frogs, had a tournament of hand and foot (Jamie and I trounced Bryce and Jeff....), we laughed, we sang, had FHE, offered prayers of gratitude in the forest, and loved being together......

five days went by toooooo quickly!
